Topic Sentence: taking a long look
at the new moon's eyelid
When reading this poem I got the sensatiuon that I was facing a type of person that might have some kind of problems. When saying that sentence that is written above on the top, the image gotten is perhaps of a person that probably is being lost in his or her life that is going through, perhaps a bad situation is facing thats way there is no way to wake that person up, no poety will calm down the feelings clinged to the heart.
Also, the tone applied at least what I consider it is, reagards to someone that maybe gave up or is dissapointed, furthemore hardly will I say that something good is going on, personal or even social problems occur.
It is supposed that poetry is a useful tool to relax or take down the bad sensations, but in this case to get lost at the new moons eyelid is not a good sign. It is true that the moon is a magnificient master piece, if you raise your sight at the sky and the moon is in there, the eyes will be right away caught by the moon, the imagination flies and we could be able to jump from the present to our deepest dreams, no matter your state. But what is the purpose of being astrayed, barefoot without a fixed skyline to go. In this poem honestly my ideas roam in the imagination trying to reach the true about all this getting off to the finishing point that me as well as the person in question in the poem would take a long way to the eyelid of the moon leaving the responsabilty to poetry to be the captain of my own thoughts and rescue me.
You always need to use quotes from the poem when you analyse literature. Review composition. A topic sentence is the main point you want to make. The paragraph needs to be more cohesive too.

Tonight No Poetry Will Serve
A routine life without a worthy place to sleep
A routine life is when a person has a sequence of similar actions regularly followed, unless there is a special reason that makes the person do a different action. From the poem "Tonight No Poetry Will Serve" by Adrianne Rich, we can determine how the writer expresses routine events through the writing using images and personifications to insert human characteristics and be able to provide a message or different interpretations. Taking some examples from the poem, the following line ¨Saw you walking barefoot taking a long look at the new moon's eyelid¨, we know that the moon does not have an eyelid but the writer uses this human attribute to describe a person walking and seeing the moon, which is what we also imagine while reading that senses. It is not completely clear if the person is thinking something about the moon, if the person is sad, or if the person is distracted, but that complements the sense of the poem since it is open to imagination and different interpretations. Even though that is the case, the poem mentions ¨later spread sleep-fallen, naked in your dark hair asleep but not oblivious of the unslept unsleeping elsewhere¨, which makes us imagine a tired person trying to sleep but is difficult for the person to sleep without a worthy place.
Remember even if it is a paragraph it has a Topic sentence and concluding sentence. Your analysis could be developed further because it is not really clear what your point is. Grade: 7
DeleteAnalysis of the mood of the poem “Tonight No Poetry Will Serve”
ReplyDeleteIt is common to be thought that when a poem is read good feelings, such as happiness and joy, will emerge; nevertheless, those are not the only kind of feelings that can be provoked; confusion, sadness, and emptiness are other type of feelings that can be easily incited, but which are not often expected or wanted from a poem. This poem in particular evokes in the reader what we could call negative feelings. Negative not for the feeling itself, but because of what they cause on the reader. The first impression a reader may have when the poem is being recited for the first time is a deep confusion. What did the speaker mean with “syntax of rendition”? or What is the purpose of the usage of literature vocabulary? After reading the poem over and over little hints of sadness will appear here and there. (4) The poem gives the idea of a bad situation within the life of the speaker; therefore the mood in the reader is of sorrow. It created in me the image of a person in a long agony who finally his/her past away, and that is precisely the reason why “Tonight no poetry will serve”, because nothing can take away the sadness that the speaker is feeling at the moment; nothing can fill the emptiness that this loss has left behind. For instance lines from 5 to 8…
(“sleep-fallen, naked in your dark hair
asleep but not oblivious
of the unslept unsleeping
elsewhere”)
…reinforce the mood of sadness, especially with the words naked and oblivious. Sadness or lack of joy is the mood created in the speaker of this poem.
You have good points. Be careful with some grammar and the sentence structure. The first sentnce is long and confusing. It should mention the name of the poem in the first sentence if it is the TS. Grade: 8,5
Delete“Tonight No Poetry Will Serve” Analysis
ReplyDeletePoetry often allows us to analyze in depth the feelings of the authors through different techniques that simultaneously help the poet to disguise their ideas and also raise your interest to the reader because they can discover the meaning of each line by themselves. Some of these techniques which are present in this poem are the images, metaphors and diction. In this text, for instance, the author permits to the reader develops the picture of each stanza in their minds due to the way that she describes the character and the scene of each line. In the first stanza “Saw you walking barefoot taking a long look at the new moon's eyelid”, the poet shows through the use of some images the mood of character describes in the poem. It is easy to observe a grade of sadness or depression in those lines. Also the writer shows how the subject wanders looking for a help signal to your particular problem or an answer to one specific situation of his o her life. In the second stanza the poet tell us more about the moment that subject of the poem is living; she describes how she or he has difficulties to sleep and how the concentration of that character is almost zero. On the other hand, metaphors in this poem play an important paper because help the author makes a comparison using the personification of some non human things as a tool. For example when in the first stanza of the poem the writer incorporates a common physical characteristic of one person when she was talking about the moon “the new moon's eyelid”. Other point important to analyze is the diction of the text because that word choice enrich it. Along the entire text, the words that writer choose, support any idea behind them. For instance, when Adrienne Rich decided to use words such as “feeds”, “choking”, “disgraced”, or “for sale” next to the description of the different linguistics terms. That kind of words support the comparison between of the first part of the poem that talking about a specific subject and the other part that relates non real objects with human beings. On the other hand we can say as a readers that main idea of the writer in this poem was show us how different is the real life of the linguistics process due to the human beings’ life not follow all the time the pattern to get a result .As a conclusion poetry use different techniques to develop the poet’s main ideas and it help the readers to immerse themselves in the text and get their owns teachings.
